Based in Sandton, Johannesburg, I work with clients across South Africa and globally to bring messages to life - from commercial voiceovers and branded content to conferences, awards evenings and corporate events that demand presence and connection. With an MBA specialising in employee retention, a senior background in corporate communications and brand marketing, and over a decade of experience as an international award-winning voice artist, I bridge the gap between strategy and storytelling. I don’t just read scripts or host events - I shape how your message is received, remembered and felt.
From being the trusted voice behind brands like Makro, Toys “R” Us and Sun International, to commanding stages as a corporate MC and event announcer, my work is built on one principle: connection drives impact.

My Story
From a blanket fort in my garage to a broadcast booth serving clients around the world.
Hi, I’m Kavesan Pillay (better known as Voice Artist Kav) and this is my journey.
I’ve always had a thing for the spotlight… or maybe more accurately, the microphone. It all began back at Hillary Primary School, where I signed up for speech and drama classes. I didn’t know it then, but those early moments of learning how to breathe life into words laid the foundation for everything that came next.
By the time I got to Glenwood High School, I was deep into public speaking and debating, refining the art of confident, intentional communication. That passion followed me to the University of Cape Town where, while studying for my Business Science Honours degree in Marketing, I discovered the magic of UCT Radio - and fell headfirst into the world of voice. I started voicing radio promos between lectures and late-night assignments and somewhere in that chaos, a calling emerged.
What started in a makeshift blanket-fort studio (literally, a mic wedged between moving boxes in my parents' garage storeroom) grew into a thriving freelance voice-over business, serving clients locally and across the globe. And today? I record from a fully treated, custom-built 3x3m professional recording booth that I designed and built from scratch - proof that growth is a journey, not a jump.
But my voice didn’t stop at narration. Over the years, clients started inviting me to MC their events - first weddings and birthdays, and then brand launches, award shows and high-level corporate functions. From there, I grew into professional speaking through my affiliation with the PSASA (Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa), where I now inspire audiences on topics like brand storytelling, personal motivation and communicating with confidence.
I also pursued my passion for acting, representing South Africa at the IMTA Convention 2022 in New York, where I earned multiple international awards - including Actor of the Year and Most Sought-After Male Talent in my category. Building on that momentum, I made my film debut in 2023 in a local feature, playing a supporting role alongside some incredible South African talent - marking another milestone in this ongoing creative journey.
For my continued voice-over dedication, I was then honoured in 2025 at the South African Voice Over Awards 2025, winning "Best Live Announcer of the Year" and receiving a nomination for "Best Demo Reel" in recognition of my commercial voiceover excellence over 11 years of passion.
Today, under the Voice Artist Kav brand, I bring together all of my passions (voice-over narration, MCing, acting and speaking) to help brands and people communicate with more purpose, presence and personality. Whether I’m voicing a national ad, hosting a product launch or keynoting a leadership summit, my mission remains the same: to help you find your voice, share your story and move hearts and minds.
I’m proud of where I’ve come from, and even more excited about where I’m going. Every script, every event and every audience is an opportunity to connect, to create and to bring a little more joy into the world.
